Commission on the Status of Women Calendar

Please note: As of March 2023, all Commission meetings will resume in-person with a virtual option for the public. Public participation is welcome. All in-person participants must adhere to posted health and safety protocols while in the building. Please see additional meeting information below.

The Commission normally meets the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Meeting schedule is subject to change.

The Commission welcomes you to its meetings and your interest is appreciated. Public comment is permitted after each item on the agenda. If you wish to speak on a matter on the agenda or during public input:

  • Select 'Click here' to join the meeting in your meeting invite to be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app. If you already have the Teams app, the meeting will open there automatically. If you don’t have a Teams account and the organizer has allowed it, you may have the option to enter your name to join the meeting. If you do have a Teams account, select 'Sign in' to join with access to the meeting chat and more. Then, depending on the organizer’s settings, you may join the meeting right away or go to the lobby where people in the meeting can admit you.
  • If you wish to speak on a matter not on the agenda, please wait until the Chair calls for public input at the end of the Regular Calendar. NOTE: Only matters within the Commission’s jurisdiction may be addressed. Time limitations shall be at the discretion of the Chair.

Commission on the Status of Women

Mission

To maximize parity for women and girls by supporting elimination of gender discriminatory services and practices.

Purpose

The Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women was created in 1975 to help eliminate discrimination and prejudice against women in such areas as housing, employment, health services, childcare, education, transportation, credit, legal rights, and community services.

The commission consists of seventeen (17) members appointed by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. Each supervisor can nominate three members from their district. There is one seat available to a member of the County’s Human Relations Commission and one seat is available to the Alameda County Mayors' Conference.
