Public Authority for IHSS
Training and additional resources for IHSS recipients and providers
Public Authority for IHSS
We aim to give IHSS recipients a voice in how services are provided, to improve the availability and quality of IHSS, and to support services that enhance the lives of seniors and persons with disabilities who choose to live independently and with dignity in their own homes and community.
The Public Authority for IHSS provides the following services in Alameda County:
- An IHSS recipient Registry that provides lists of screened providers to recipients seeking to hire a new provider.
- Health Benefits (medical, dental & vision) enrollment and administration for eligible IHSS providers.
- Free training courses and workshops on providing homecare services through IHSS and how the IHSS program works.
- An Advisory Committee comprised of six (6) current or past IHSS Recipients, two (2) IHSS Providers, two (2) Advocates and one (1) person with expertise in disability rights, advocacy, or government, who have been approved by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
