Keeping your Benefits

To keep your CalWORKs benefits you will need to submit two reports.

• Semi-Annual Report (SAR 7)

You are required to submit a SAR 7 form with required verifications every 6 months to report changes in circumstances that could impact eligibility, such as changes in income, resources, household composition, and/or expenses.

• Submitting online at BenefitsCal.
• Mailing to any of the Alameda County Social Services Agency offices.
• Bringing in person to any of the Alameda County Social Services Agency offices.

• Annual Redetermination

You are required to complete a redetermination every year, which includes completing an interview with an eligibility worker and submitting the redetermination form and required verifications.

You can request to reschedule your renewal interview appointment for CalWORKs before your initial renewal appointment date:

Mid-Year Reporting Requirements

For CalWORKs there are certain changes that need to be reported at any time during the year. 

It is mandatory to report the following changes within 10 days: 

• Income exceeds Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) 
• Anytime someone joins, or is in your household, who has been found by a court of law to be in violation of a condition of probation or parole 

• Anytime someone joins, or is in your household, who is running from the law (has a warrant out for their arrest) 
• Anytime you have an address change. 

To submit a mid-year report, you can submit the Form SAR 3 online here, mail or bring the report to an Alameda County Social Services Agency office, or call the Customer Service Call Center to report the change at 510-263-2420 or 1-888-999-4772.
